Pence’s speech on Nato leaves European leaders troubled over alliance’s future

Despite the US vice-president reaffirming a commitment to collective defence, the mood in Munich was mostly one of frostiness and consternation

Europe’s leaders gathered in apprehensive mood in Munich on Saturday for their first chance to weigh up the new US leadership’s approach to collective defence in the face of what many perceive as a growing Russian threat.

The signs have been mixed, and confusing, since Donald Trump won election last November. He initially signalled warmth towards Vladimir Putin and some scorn towards Nato. More recently he has appeared to backtrack on both fronts.

Hear Lana Del Rey’s Anthemic New Single ‘Love’

Lana Del Rey has unveiled her surprise new single “Love,” the singer’s first song in nearly 16 months.

“Look at you kids with your vintage music / Coming through satellites while cruising / You’re part of the past, but no, you’re the future,” Del Rey sings on the retro-sounding, Sixties girl group-inspired track. “It’s enough just to make you feel crazy, crazy, crazy sometimes.”

Later on the track, Del Rey croons, “Oh, to be young and in love,” which was the song’s original title. The song ends with a nod to the Beach Boys’ classic “Don’t Worry Baby.”

A Rich Lee-directed video for “Love” is forthcoming. The single is also available to purchase on iTunes.

The singer teased the impending arrival of her comeback single with a series of cinematic posters that were plastered around Los Angeles. “Love” ultimately leaked early after appearing on European digital music services ahead of its worldwide premiere.

Del Rey last released her fourth LP Honeymoon in September 2015; the album spawned videos for “High by the Beach,” “Music to Watch Boys To” and “Freak.” While Del Rey stayed largely out of the spotlight in 2016, she did appear on the Weeknd’s “Stargirl Interlude” off his Starboy.

Milo Yiannopoulos Named Keynote Speaker At CPAC

In the same breath as Donald Trump‘s rampant, misguided nationalism, Milo Yiannopoulos has just been mainstreamed into conservative political culture in America.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the controversial and controversy-shadowed Yiannopoulos has officially been tabbed as the keynote speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference, better known as CPAC.

CPAC is the conservative political event of the year every time it comes around, and this one — set for February 22-25 — is going to feature the highly controversial Yiannopoulos more than anyone else, including Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz, Mike Pence, Lou Dobbs, and Scott Walker.

All of those conservative mainstays were given speaking slots at CPAC this year, but none of ‘em are the keynote like Milo, who is of course the same man who pushed his trolls towards Leslie Jones on Twitter last year.

Speaking to THR, Milo said of his speech that it will:

“[Focus on his] experiences in America battling feminists, Black Lives Matter, the media, professors and the entertainment industry.”

And CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp also revealed why they chose Milo to effectively be the biggest face of their organization:

“An epidemic of speech suppression has taken over college campuses. Milo has exposed their liberal thuggery and we think free speech includes hearing Milo’s important perspective.”

Hmmm… is that really what it is??

Well, there you have it!

What does this say about conservatism in America??

Remember all this for when The Donald inevitably crashes and burns soon — it’s really going to be something to see all these alt-right conservatives trying to back away from the failure as though they never supported it!
