Republicans rush Obamacare repeal-and-replace through House committees

Republicans rush Obamacare repeal-and-replace through House committeesHouse Republicans continued to push their controversial bill to repeal and replace Obamacare through two committees Wednesday evening, as angry Democrats sought to delay the votes as long as possible. Republicans on the Committee on Ways and Means voted down Democrats’ numerous amendments, one by one, and ignored their repeated complaints that the majority was rushing through a vote to change the nation’s health care system without first receiving an estimate of its cost and impact from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner Reportedly Call Off Divorce

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – One of Hollywood’s power couples may stay together after all.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are reportedly trying to work things out after separating in 2015.

“We have multiple sources telling us that the divorce is off for now, People Magazine Editor Janine Rubenstein told Louis Aguirre of “The Insider.”

“All children deserve to be more or less allowed to, you know, hopefully grow up in a way that they have a decent chance to become normal people, and good people,” Affleck himself has said.

Rubenstein said it was reportedly Garner’s decision to reverse course.

“Ben and Jen went through a rough patch over the holidays, and they were on the brink of divorce,” she said.

An “Insider” source close to Garner said there is no update or change in her relationship with Garner.

In an effort to preserve their family unit, Affleck remained in their Brentwood, Los Angeles compound in separate quarters.

“The day after the Oscars, Ben and Jen were the portrait of a happy family. They celebrated their son’s birthday together with their two daughters, and sources tell us it was a very happy day, and it was kind of like it used to be for that family,” Rubenstein said.

And while “People” said this may be a first step toward reconciliation, the pair is not back together just yet.

“We’re hearing that Ben has been putting in a lot of work to better himself, and become the father and the husband that Jennifer wants him to be,” Rubenstein said. “They are hopeful that they can reconcile.”

The couple got married in 2005.

‘That energy is still here’: New Yorkers rally for ‘A Day Without a Woman’ strike

‘That energy is still here’: New Yorkers rally for ‘A Day Without a Woman’ strikeWith the Plaza Hotel, which President Trump once owned, as a backdrop, a crowd gathered at the southeast corner of Central Park on Wednesday afternoon as part of the “A Day Without a Woman” strike. Set to coincide with International Women’s Day, the protest was organized by the same team behind January’s Women’s March on Washington, a massive Saturday protest that coincided with many sister marches across the country and ultimately became the largest single-day demonstration in United States history. Wednesday’s gathering was promoted as “a show of solidarity and revolutionary love,” ahead of another rally in Manhattan’s Washington Square Park on Wednesday evening, and the crowd, overwhelmingly female but otherwise diverse, was appropriately buoyant.
