The hero worship propelling Erdoğan to absolute power in Turkey

In the capital of Ankara, the president’s referendum on his bid to stay in office until 2029 is riding a tide of popular support after the failed coup to oust him

Emine Altinbas had come all the way to Ankara from the northern Turkish city of Amasya, 165 miles away, for a political rally. In the warmth of the afternoon, she listened as the prime minister urged her and other supporters to vote yes in a referendum that would transform the country into a presidential republic.

But Altinbas needed no convincing. In a fortnight she will back Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan , and the package of reforms that could keep him in power until 2029. Why? Because, she said, she trusted Erdoğan to do the right thing.

Bill O’Reilly Responds To New Sexual Harassment Report — And Casts HIMSELF The Victim!

We should have just expected this as par for the course for Bill O’Reilly.

The Fox News host released a statement on his website on Saturday afternoon that was in direct response to the New York Times’ bombshell report about Fox‘s MASSIVE pay-offs for women who had accused O’Reilly of sexual assault.

And completely not surprisingly, the TV host not only failed to take responsibility or show sensitivity for the situation — he also decided to cast HIMSELF the victim here, as opposed to all the woman who have come forward against him!!!

Here’s O’Reilly’s full statement:

“Just like other prominent and controversial people, I’m vulnerable to lawsuits from individuals who want me to pay them to avoid negative publicity. In my more than 20 years at Fox News Channel, no one has ever filed a complaint about me with the Human Resources Department, even on the anonymous hotline.”

Uh-huh…

And he continued (below):

“But most importantly, I’m a father who cares deeply for my children and who would do anything to avoid hurting them in any way. And so I have put to rest any controversies to spare my children. The worst part of my job is being a target for those who would harm me and my employer, the Fox News Channel. Those of us in the arena are constantly at risk, as are our families and children. My primary efforts will continue to be to put forth an honest TV program and to protect those close to me.”

Hmmm…

“I’m so famous I get sexual harassment lawsuits” is one kind of a defense, isn’t it Bill?

Not holding our breath that his TV network is going to do anything about this, though.
