As warplanes return to scene of sarin attack, Trump defends missile launch

In the quiet streets of Khan Sheikhun, people mourned the dead from a sarin attack, bracing for the next raid. At an airbase near Homs, government warplanes roared back into action, their targets unknown. And not far from his golf course in south Florida, the president of the United States cried out a defense on Twitter.

Kendall Jenner Is Now Reportedly ‘Traumatized’ Over Backlash To Her Controversial Pepsi Ad

We had previously learned she was “devastated” over the ad, and now, it appears Kendall Jenner is also “traumatized” over that controversial commercial that has brought backlash from every corner of the Internet and beyond.

Miz Jenner returned to El Lay late Friday night, and a source told reporters that she is NOT feeling it after such a bad week of fallout over that awful, tone-deaf Pepsi ad in which she appeared.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, a source said:

“Kendall was grateful for the change. She is really traumatized over the Pepsi backlash.”

Yeah… no kidding.

Apparently, Kendall thought that the ad was going to be well received by the masses, and was truly shocked when it wasn’t??? We’re talking about the ad where Kendall ends a protest by handing a can of Pepsi to a police officer, right?!

Um…..

The source continued:

“She had such high hopes for it, and now she’s terrified she will never work again or become a laughing stock … The world sees her as this glamorous, sophisticated, jet-setting woman, but she’s only 21 and she’s very sensitive. This has been very painful and embarrassing to her.”

Uh, yeah, this ad should be painful and embarrassing for her — and her family.

But scared she’ll never work again?!

Wow.

The Roger Angell Baseball Collection ($2.99 Kindle), by Roger Angell

“The season’s in full swing—enjoy it with these three classics covering baseball in the decades from the 1960s through the 1980s, from “a stunning writer…who can translate the nuances of the game with perfect clarity.”” – Wall Street Journal

A captivating collection of three nonfiction baseball books by acclaimed writer Roger Angell: The Summer Game, Five Seasons, and Season Ticket

The Summer Game, originally published in 1972, is a stunning collection of Angell’s essays on the major leagues, covering a span of ten seasons. Angell brilliantly captures the nation’s most beloved sport through the 1960s, spanning both the winning teams and the “horrendous losers,” and including famed players Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Willie Mays, and more. With the panache of a seasoned sportswriter and the energy of an avid baseball fan, Angell’s sports journalism is an insightful and compelling look at the great American pastime.

In Five Seasons, New Yorker sportswriter Roger Angell calls 1972 to 1976 “the most important half-decade in the history of the game.” The early to mid-1970s brought unprecedented changes to America’s ancient pastime: astounding performances by Nolan Ryan and Hank Aaron; the intensity of the “best-ever” 1975 World Series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Boston Red Sox; the changes growing from bitter and extended labor strikes and lockouts; and the vast new influence of network television on the game. Angell, always a fan as well as a writer, casts a knowing but noncynical eye on these events, offering a fresh perspective to baseball’s continuing appeal during this brilliant and transformative era.

And in Season Ticket, Roger Angell once again journeys through five seasons of America’s national pastime—chronicling the larger-than-life narratives and on-field intricacies of baseball from 1982 to 1987. Angell’s collected New Yorker essays, written in his unique voice as a fan and baseball aficionado, cover the development of the game both on the diamond and off. While diving into subjects such as Sparky Anderson’s ’84 Detroit Tigers, the legendary 1986 World Series and the Curse of the Bambino, and the increasingly pervasive issue of player drug use, Angell reveals the craft and technique of the game, and the unforgettable stories of those who played it.

The Weight of Silence ($1.99 Kindle), by Heather Gudenkauf [Harlequin MIRA]

Masterfully written and beautifully told, Heather Gudenkauf’s debut is a stunning novel of family devotion, honesty and regret that will linger long after the last page is turned.

It happens quietly one August morning. As dawn’s shimmering light drenches the humid Iowa air, two families awaken to find their little girls have gone missing in the night.

Seven-year-old Calli Clark is sweet, gentle, a dreamer who suffers from selective mutism brought on by a tragedy that pulled her deep into silence as a toddler. Calli’s mother, Antonia, tried to be the best mother she could within the confines of marriage to a mostly absent, often angry husband. Now, though she denies that her husband could be involved in the possible abductions, she fears her decision to stay in her marriage has cost her more than her daughter’s voice.

Petra Gregory is Calli’s best friend, her soul mate and her voice. But neither Petra nor Calli has been heard from since their disappearance was discovered. Desperate to find his child, Martin Gregory is forced to confront a side of himself he did not know existed beneath his intellectual, professorial demeanor.

Now these families are tied by the question of what happened to their children. And the answer is trapped in the silence of unspoken family secrets.
