What a weird weekend at the box office!
We knew The Fate Of The Furious was going to keep doing well, so let’s get that one out of the way first, because the numbers continue to be staggering: in its second weekend out in theaters, Furious 8 did $38.7 million, which gives it a domestic ten-day total now at $163.6 million!
Globally, the film is doing even better, with a $908.4 million haul globally, including an unheard-of $318 million in China alone, making it quite literally one of the most popular movies in the history of the world!!!
But that’s not really where the story was, as it instead centers on two MASSIVE flops: Unforgettable and The Promise.
Unforgettable, starring Katherine Heigl, opened at just $4.8 million, which is a career worst for the actress. There’s good news here — the film only cost $12 million to make — but there’s no question that’s a REALLY bad opener for a film with higher expectations and some star power (Rosario Dawson and Geoff Stults in addition to Heigl).
The other big bust at the box office was Christian Bale‘s new move The Promise, a film about the Armenian genocide that cost an astounding $100 million to make and brought in just $4.1 million in its first weekend out in theaters.
The entire film was financed by one man — the late Kirk Kerkorian, who was of Armenian descent — and producers are pushing it as a win for the awareness surrounding Armenian genocide, but there’s no question the film itself, from a business standpoint, was a massive flop in theaters.
Two more minor films also opened in theaters this weekend, too: Phoenix Forgotten ($2 million opener from 1,592 theaters), and Free Fire ($1 million from 1,070 theaters).
Neither one of those movies were expected to be anywhere near as big as Unforgettable or The Promise, but each was expected to do better than they did. Oops.
Tough weekend at the box office?!
Maybe… or maybe it’s just The Fate of the Furious‘ world… and we’re all just livin’ in it!!!

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Five people were killed Sunday when an extra-alarm fire swept through a two-story house in Queens.
The fire broke out at 2:35 p.m. in the house at 112-16 208th St. in Queens Village, the FDNY said.
A driver passing by spotted flames coming from the first and second floors of the house, and saw a person come to a second floor window and fall out, the FDNY said. That person, believed to be a 46-year-old man, is the only survivor.
The fire was raised to three alarms before being knocked down.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said five people were killed in the blaze, including three children. FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said he believed the youngest victim was two years old.
“This is a very, very sad day for people here in Queens Village,” the mayor said. “An incredibly difficult moment for people on this block to see a family literately destroyed before their eyes. This is a very, very painful day.”
“This is a terrible, sad time for this block, for this community, for our entire city when we see people lost in such a fashion,” Nigro added.
A spokesperson for de Blasio previously called the fire an “unspeakable heartbreak.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo also said he was “closely monitoring the situation.”
The mayor said this is the largest loss of life in a fire since the blaze that claimed the lives of seven Jewish siblings in Midwood, Brooklyn roughly two years ago.
He also noted the fatal fire comes just days after the FDNY lost one of its own.
“It bears saying at this moment that the FDNY is going through a lot this week, having lost their brother firefighter William Tolley just days ago,” de Blasio said. “They came out in full force even in their moment of pain.”
“We know that when we lose one of our own, the community mourns with us. And today the fire department mourns with this community at the loss of five people in this home,” Nigro added.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

And now, another shoe drops on the ongoing controversies surrounding Fox News.
TV host and journalist Alisyn Camerota has come out on Sunday revealing that she was sexually harassed by Roger Ailes during her time working for the network, and she revealed it all in a tell-all interview with Brian Stetler on CNN‘s Reliable Sources.
Speaking frankly in a very serious sit-down interview, Camerota recounted her tale of Ailes trying to get, um, closer to her during her work for the network.
Camerota said, in part:
“It feels as though, if I take the Murdochs at their word, they really want to know what was wrong there and what the culture was like. Yes, Roger Ailes did sexually harass me.”
Now, for Ailes’ part, his attorney Susan Estrich completely denied the account, saying:
“These are unsubstantiated and false allegations. Mr. Ailes never engaged in the inappropriate conversations she now claims occurred, and he vigorously denies this fictional account of her interactions with him and of Fox News’ editorial policy.”
Camerota worked at Fox for more than a decade, and worked specifically with Ailes to a large degree during her tiem on air.
She noted how there was more than one aspect to Ailes’ personality and work at the network:
“Let me be clear. Roger Ailes was — could be charming. He could be quite charismatic. He could be uproariously funny. He could also be a bit of a bully, and mean. And he also was often kind of grossly inappropriate with things that he would say, and I think that many of us experienced that. He would talk about body parts. He would say ‘Give me a spin.’ He would want to be greeted with a hug. But the time that I remember most. was when I was first starting out at Fox and I was single, and I remember Roger, being in Roger’s office, and I was saying that I wanted more opportunity. He said ‘Well, I would have to work with you. I would have to work with you on that case. I would have to work with you really closely, and it may require us getting to know each other better, and that might have to happen away from here, and it might have to happen at a hotel. Do you know what I’m saying?’ And I said ‘Yeah, I think I do know what you’re saying.'”
Watch how that ended, and the entire disturbing segment, on Camerota’s interview with Stetler about all this (below):
Good thing Ailes is gone.
Let’s just hope some way, somehow, all these women have piece of mind at some point after these traumatic experiences.

This is so awful!
News is just coming in that Kim Zolciak-Biermann‘s son Kash, 4, was bitten by a dog at some point on Saturday night, with “traumatic injuries” so extensive, it required multiple hours of surgery afterwards.
Kim posted a pic to her Instagram account a couple hours ago (below) explaining the incident and Kash’s touch-and-go recovery from the horrific event:
I don’t know where to start. The last 14hrs of our lives has been a living nightmare. My sweet @kashbiermann was bit by a dog and had very traumatic injuries. I’ve never prayed so hard, or been so scared in my life. My husband, our daughters, Kj, Tracey, his nanny, Michael Beck and everyone close to us all pulled together and held each other up. Kash was in the operating room for a couple hours and now we are praying for a quick speedy recovery. Due to this I will not be on WWHL tonight but will do my best to make it up very soon! Thank you for all your prayers and most importantly Thank you God for your protection ❤️ A very special Thank you to my incredible medical team! A few days in the hospital and we will be back home ❤️A post shared by Kim Zolciak-Biermann (@kimzolciakbiermann) on Apr 23, 2017 at 10:52am PDT
So, so scary.
Kim’s full caption explaining what happened a bit, as well as the fact that Kash will hopefully recover despite serious injuries (below):

It’s difficult to imagine anything more scary than something like this happening to your child.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family as they rally around Kash — hopefully he’ll be back to normal in no time, but at the very last, it sounds as tough he’ll be home somewhat soon.
