Pink Says Dr. Luke Is ‘Not A Good Person’ When Commenting On Kesha’s Legal Drama With The Producer

Snap, snap.

Although Pink didn’t discuss the details regarding Kesha‘s legal battle with Dr. Luke, the momma-of-two didn’t hold back her opinion when discussing the controversial producer with The New York Times.

When asked about the lawsuit, the Beautiful Trauma singer responded bluntly:

“I don’t know what happened, but I know that regardless of whether or not Dr. Luke did that, this is his karma and he earned it because he’s not a good person.”

Pink doesn’t have any sympathy for Luke:

“I have told him that to his face and I do not work with him. He doesn’t do good business, he’s not a kind person, he doesn’t do the right thing when given ample opportunities to do so, and I don’t really feel that bad for him.”

Yikes!

Trial Date Set For DMX $1.7 Mill Tax Fraud Case

Rapper Leaves Rehab To Fight Federal Tax Evasion Case

A judge has set a trial date for DMX’s $1.7 million tax fraud case, although the rapper’s lawyer said a deal may be in play.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, appeared Oct. 5 in Manhattan Federal Court, where his lawyer, Stacy Richman, asked Judge Jed Rakoff for a later trial date because she’d been having “discussions” with the feds on a possible deal.

“We’re happy to set a date in the near future because there are ongoing discussions,” Richman told the judge.

If both sides can’t reach a deal, then DMX will head to trial Feb. 5.

“Please be advised that that date will not move,” Judge Rakoff said. “Don’t even think about it.”

DMX, dressed in a grey sweatshirt, dark blue baggy jeans and Timbs, said nothing during the five minute hearing.

The rapper has been in rehab for the last few weeks after he violated the terms of his bail by testing positive for cocaine. He looked healthier and like he put on about 40 pounds.

“I’m feeling good,” DMX told BOSSIP outside the courtroom.

The feds said DMX knowingly withheld paying taxes for years, and owes some $1.7 million to Uncle Sam. However, the “Slippin” rapper said he was appealing to a higher power.

“It’s in God’s hands,” X said when asked about how the case was progressing. “It’s in God’s hands.”

Outside court, DMX was in happy spirits, and joked with a BOSSIP reporter. “Bossip?!” he asked. “Is that a bloods thing?”

Netflix Is Raising The Price on Their Most Popular Plan

For most people, Netflix is no longer a creature comfort. Thusly, the monthly charge falls under a category of staple utilities like one’s cell phone.

Today brings the news that the streaming giant is raising its prices for the first time since October 2015 for most of its 53 million U.S. subscribers.

The service’s standard tier – which used to cost $9.99 USD – will now cost $10.99 for a plan that includes HD and allows people to simultaneously watch programs on two different internet-connected devices. The premium tier – which is available in Ultra HD and allows users to watch on up to four screens – will go up from $11.99 USD to $13.99 USD.

While this move is certainly aimed at helping foot the bill for the $6 billion USD they will spend on content this year, the service insists that they’ve also added key features like the ability to download shows and watch them offline.

As it stands, Netflix is now the most expensive streaming platform – outpacing Amazon ($8.25 USD per month) and Hulu ($10 USD per month).

For those with an existing Netflix subscription, emails will begin being sent out by October 19 alerting consumers of the price change and the ability to opt-out if one can’t shoulder the added financial burden.

For more Netflix coverage, check out everything coming to and leaving the service in October.

Issa Rae Schools us on White Male Privilege in One Paragraph

Issa Rae has been known to keep it all the way 100 when it comes to pro-black rights. She’s a black woman in a white, male dominated industry with a successful television series, a bestselling book, and a beauty deal with Cover Girl. So you can imagine her journey to success was no walk in the park.

In a recent brief conversation with The Cut, Issa broke down the obstacles minorities face while pursuing a higher education and their careers.

They don’t get that we’re not all starting from the same starting point. Straight, cis, white men don’t have the same obstacles — there’s not much in their path. That’s not to say they don’t have any of their own problems, but the playing field is not level by any means. It’s easy for people to dismiss your history, dismiss where you came from. Just because we graduated from the same college doesn’t mean we have the same opportunities. There’s bias, even in the hiring process, and that’s something not enough people are aware of. It feels like a vicious Catch-22 when there aren’t diverse people behind the scenes. That [lack of diversity] alters the company or organization perspective, which means they’re not going to have people who look like the people they are trying to recruit. Even when we do these diversity events, I find that we tend to include other diverse people who also know the struggle and who are already familiar with the burdens, where the audience should be mostly white men and women. People aren’t aware, and they choose not to be. For so many people, unfortunately, the issues with people of color don’t affect them, so why would they burden themselves with caring?

Leave it to Issa to provoke thoughtful conversation and stand up for the rights of her and her people.

Uber Removing Apple-Granted API That Could Have Let it Record a User’s iPhone Screen

When the Apple Watch was first released, Apple gave Uber what’s known as an “entitlement” to run a special API to improve performance of the Uber app on the wrist worn device.

That entitlement made headlines today when security researchers told Gizmodo that Uber could have used it to record a user’s iPhone screen even with the Uber app just running in the background.

In a statement, Uber said the entitlement was used for an old version of the Apple Watch app and was provided to Uber because the original Apple Watch couldn’t render maps.

“It was used for an old version of the Apple Watch app, specifically to run the heavy lifting of rendering maps on your phone & then send the rendering to the Watch app,” an Uber spokesperson told Gizmodo, saying that early Apple Watches couldn’t handle this process alone. “This dependency was removed with previous improvements to Apple’s OS & our app. Therefore, we’re removing this API from our iOS codebase.”

The entitlement is no longer necessary and Uber is planning to remove it from the iOS codebase, according to both the statement given to Gizmodo and a tweet from Uber head of security and privacy communications Melanie Ensign.

According to security researcher Will Strafach, who first brought attention to the issue, Apple does not often give out entitlements. Strafach said he could find no other apps on the App Store that have the permissions that the Uber app has.

Strafach says there is no evidence that Uber ever misused the entitlement, but it could have been utilized to monitor activity on an iPhone, recording passwords and other personal information. “Essentially it gives you full control over the framebuffer, which contains the colors of each pixel of your screen. So they can potentially draw or record the screen,” another security researcher, Luca Todesco, told Gizmodo.

Uber says the app is no longer connected to anything in the company’s current codebase, but users will likely be wary anyway as there have been other privacy concerns with the Uber app. There was a feature that allowed riders to be tracked for up to five minutes after a trip, and Apple CEO Tim Cook even went so far as to threaten to remove the app from the App Store after it was found to be secretly recording the UDID of iPhones to identify them even after the Uber app had been deleted.

Low-carb BBQ Chicken

BBQ Chicken
istetiana / Getty

Garlic is a staple ingredient in most recipes, and that of Chef Irvine’s low-carb BBQ chicken recipe. The way garlic is cut and cooked depicts what health benefits it will allow. Thankfully, this recipe calls for chopped garlic, which will produce active agents called allyl sulfide compounds. Chopping garlic breaks the cell walls, triggering a bunch of chemical reactions—leading to that “garlicy” smell. Yet throwing the chopped garlic right into hot oil will disarm a key enzyme, instead let the garlic sit for 10 minutes. This will give the cancer-fighting compounds a chance to take shape.

Beef Collard Wrap

Roast Beef Collard Wrap

This beef collard wrap recipe can help pack on the protein while boosting overall health. Keep reading down the list of ingredients, stopping at red wine vinegar. To get scientific, it’s an acetic acid that’s created by fermentation, except it has zero calories compared to red wine. This vinegar improves the digestive track by enhancing the absorption of vitamins and minerals more effectively.

Directions:
Place sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil, 3 Tbsp water, horseradish, vinegar, and pepper in a blender and blend to a chunky mixture.
Cut off the firm, white stalks of the collards. Fillet off the thickest parts of the remaining stalks that run down the backside of the leaves.
To make one wrap, place two collards head to foot (stalks at opposite ends) and partially overlap the leaves. Apply some of the tomato spread down the center lengthwise, then top with roast beef, carrots, and sprouts.
Tightly roll the leaves, beginning from the bottom wider end, tucking in the sides as you go. Cut in half to serve.
