Temptations Lead Singer Dennis Edwards Dies at 74

Temptations singer Dennis Edwards passed away on Thursday in a hospital in Chicago. Edwards was 74 years old.  The cause of his death has not yet been officially released, but it has been reported that Edwards’ family released information that was in the hospital struggling with meningitis complications prior to his passing. Since May of last year, Edwards had been in and out of the hospital dealing with it. The legendary singer’s death was confirmed by a booking agent on Friday. Edwards would’ve been celebrating his 75th birthday on February 3rd.

The Alabama Native as the lead singer of the famous Motown group was part of classic hit songs like “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “I Can’t Get Next to you.” The Grammy award-winning singer is survived by his wife, Brenda Edwards, his five daughters and son.

Edwards joined The Temptations in 1968, replacing founding member David Ruffin. Edwards went on to win two Grammy awards for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus and Best R&B Instrumental Performance with the song,‘Papa Was a Rolling Stone.’

After years of being in and out of the singing group, Edwards took on his own solo career in the early 80’s scoring the hit song “Don’t look any Further” featuring Siedah Garrett. As hip-hop came into the forefront, artists like Tupac, Rakim, and Notorious B.I.G. started sampling his previous music.

Dennis Edwards was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Temptations in 1989 and in 2013, Edwards received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy along with the rest of The Temptations.

The Temptations are known as one of the groups who made Motown music what it is known for today. Fellow Motown artist Smokey Robinson addressed the ‘Ball of Confusion’ performers passing. “It really saddens me to know that another Motown soldier is gone,” Robinson told Rolling Stone. “Rest in peace, my brother. You were a great talent.”

Battle Rapper Goodz Pops off on Jimz at Rare Breed Entertainment Event

Bronx Battle Rapper Goodz got into an altercation in his battle with Jimz. Rare Breed Entertainment hosted their “Lift His Soul 4” event on Saturday at Club Drom in Manhattan. The footage was reposted on Instagram of Goodz landing a punch on Jimz following what was said to be a bar about Goodz’ daughter. The GMB rapper didn’t take kindly to his child being mentioned and swung on Jimz causing a brawl in the venue.

Goodz lands the first punch and Jimz fires back before the entourages get involved. The second video which was posted by Gabos media on Instagram, shows mostly Goodz entourage scoring most of the blows as you just see different attendees falling off the stage from pushes and punches. Toward the end of the video, Goodz wearing a green hooded sweatshirt is seen screaming across the venue as he’s being held back by security.

Goodz screams about his daughter being mentioned and then tells Jimz to, “meet him outside” to settle the issue. There is no footage or word of an altercation continuing outside the venue, but following the incident Goodz took to Twitter to address the situation.

“Listen yall it was just a scuffle,” said Goodz after getting a series of mentions about the fight. “After watching it I do feel like I took what he said the wrong way… just was in the heat of the moment.. I apologize for the whole situation.”

Goodz goes on to admit that he acted off his emotions and owned up to his mistake. Goodz later retweeted a post from a fan asking for Jimz and Goodz to work out their beef. Jimz has yet to respond to the incident on social media.

Charlie Clips, DNA, John John Da Don, and Showoff were some of the other names on the card who’s battles were prior to the altercation.

Apple is ‘Looking Into’ Limited Reports of Incoming Call Delays on iPhone X

The Financial Times today highlighted a limited number of reports from users experiencing delays with incoming phone calls on the iPhone X. Apple later confirmed to MacRumors that it is “looking into these reports.”

The report, which links to a few discussions on the Apple Support Communities, notes that hundreds of customers have complained that the iPhone X’s display experiences delays in turning on for up to 10 seconds during incoming phone calls, preventing these users from tapping the Accept or Decline buttons.

Indian blog PiunikaWeb rounded up similar complaints on the Apple Support Communities in January, but it appears affected iPhone X owners have been experiencing this issue since shortly after the device launched in November.

Based on what we’ve read, it appears that affected iPhone X units begin ringing when they receive a phone call, but the display does not turn on to show the caller ID or Accept and Decline buttons for a brief period—sometimes even longer than 10 seconds—which typically results in the call being missed.

The issue doesn’t appear to be fixed in the latest iOS 11.2.5 software update, and based on the complaints, it would appear that all versions back to at least iOS 11.2 are affected. Earlier versions of iOS 11 could be affected too.

MacRumors hasn’t been able to reproduce this issue, and we’ve seen only a handful of comments on our discussion forums related to the matter, but we did find a dozen more complaints from users across Twitter and Reddit.

Apple is likely collecting data from affected customers so that its engineers can investigate the matter, as it routinely does with any potential hardware or software issues, so contact Apple Support if you are affected. The issue likely can and will be addressed in a future software update.

Apple has dealt with a number of iPhone X hardware and software issues in recent months, some more widespread than others, including a defect causing green lines to appear on some displays, temporary unresponsiveness in cold temperatures, and the rear-facing camera failing to autofocus.

Last week, reports broke that Apple has decided to delay some new features planned for iOS 12 until next year so that it can double down on the performance and quality of the iPhone and iPad operating system in the near term.

Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant?

The post Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant? appeared first on High Times.

As we discover more about marijuana’s overwhelming health benefits, many are asking: is it safe to use CBD products while pregnant? Mary J is a proven remedy for many of pregnancy’s difficulties, from depression to pain management. But can marijuana negatively affect a baby’s development?

The Endocannabinoid System

Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant?

This naturally-occurring network of proteins and receptors maintains homeostasis within the human body. Named after the cannabinoids found in marijuana that lead to its discovery, the endocannabinoid system regulates everything from mood to pain management.

These receptors have evolved to respond to the cannabinoids found in the human body and in weed. This means that marijuana is an effective tool for regulating one’s mood, inflammation in the body and more.

Marijuana’s ability to affect the endocannabinoid system also poses a potential risk.  This biological network also plays a crucial role in a fetus’ development. Specifically, it creates neurons and builds brain pathways in the neonatal brain. Another cannabinoid threatens to compliment this already complex process.

The Dangers of THC while pregnant

Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant?

Certain cannabinoids risk disrupting a fetus’ brain development through interference in the endocannabinoid system.

THC, a psychoactive chemical compound found in weed, is one of them. Studies show that THC can interrupt the formation of neuronal networks and result in nervous system-related birth defects.

The use of THC while pregnant can also negatively impact a baby’s birth rate. Healthcare providers advise against using THC while pregnant due to these risks.

What does CBD do?

Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant?

THC may have negative impacts on a baby’s birth but CBD functions differently from THC. This has lead researchers to wonder, is it safe to use CBD products while pregnant?

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning that it doesn’t get you ‘high’ like THC. CBD’s appeal is medicinal: It can function as a painkiller, reduce inflammation, fight nausea, and treat mood disorders.

It has also been used effectively as a treatment for arthritis, epilepsy, and has been linked to fighting cancer-causing cells in the body. All of these characteristics make CBD the perfect natural alternative to synthetic drugs, especially for pregnant women.

How do I use it?

Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant?

The safest way to ingest CBD during pregnancy is an oil, lotion, or capsule made 100% from hemp extracts. Not only are these products legal, they’re widely available even in states where weed isn’t legal.

Avoid products advertised as “CBD rich,” which means that they have an equal amount of THC and CBD. Pregnant women are better off avoiding anything that may have even trace amounts of THC.

Additionally, smoking and products with potentially hazardous chemicals should be avoided during pregnancy. This means that it’s best to avoid dabbing or edibles that you aren’t making yourself. Like everything, the safest way to use CBD is in its most organic form, especially if you’re pregnant.

Final Hit: Is It Safe To Use CBD Products While Pregnant?

Today, CBD use during pregnancy is a controversial topic. To the question, is it safe to use CBD products while pregnant, some say that not enough research has been conducted.

Many, however, argue that CBD products (that are free of THC) are an ideal organic solution to relieve the physical and mental strain of pregnancy. Since we’re only in the first stages of cannabis research, the safety of marijuana-derived products can’t be ensured.

We can say that CBD use and accessibility is growing rapidly, and many women are choosing to experience pregnancy with a little help from hemp.
