WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin and More

Brock Lesnar‘s unintended victim and Steve Austin’s supposed beef with Roddy Piper headline the latest WWE rumors.

What fans didn’t see during Lesnar‘s on-air deconstruction of a Cadillac was that a member of the audience got hurt. A backstage report lets us in on what happened to the audience member who felt Lesnar‘s power firsthand.

As for Austin, he refuted recent rumblings about him ousting Piper from his podcast home.

Other rumors provide insight into what WWE had in mind for Finn Balor, whether Jim Ross had issues with Big Show and who what term may be banned on the air. Let’s dig into all of those, but not before finding out about the aftermath of Lesnar‘s attack on Monday’s Raw.

Update on Brock Lesnar-Fan Situation

The Beast Incarnate left J&J Security’s Cadillac looking like it had been through a scene in Mad Max.

Lesnar destroyed the car as a means to get revenge on Seth Rollins and The Authority. It was an enthralling, memorable segment that turned scary for one fan.

Bill Neville tweeted a video from Wrestle One that shows the audience member getting hit with a flying car door:

WWE hasn’t mentioned the incident as of yet. A report from PWInsider, though, provides an update on how things reportedly worked out for the fan. Mike Johnson writes, “The final word on the fan who was struck by Brock Lesnar tossing the car door is that he was OK and left last night’s taping with a LOT of free merchandise.”

The situation could have easily been far worse. It’s great to hear that the fan came out of this without needing a trip the emergency room.

And boy does he have a story to tell to go along with all that WWE gear.

Backstage Word on Finn Balor‘s Title Win

At the Beast in the East special, Balor knocked off Kevin Owens to win the NXT Championship. The victory was apparently something that WWE had in mind for him long before the bout was announced.

According to PWInsider (h/t Wrestling Inc) Balor‘s win was something that had been in the works for a while. It was part of a a plan that WWE mapped out beforehand.

That certainly felt like the case. Balor had been showcased far more in recent weeks. He defeated Rhyno and pinned Owens in tag team action.

The clearest sign, though, that WWE was prepping the audience for a Balor title win was the fact that it aired a three-part video on Balor‘s background and career.

It’s refreshing to see WWE build up to a big moment like this. Too often, it feels like titles change hands on a whim. The Prime Time Players taking home the tag titles last month is a perfect example of that.

Steve Austin and Jim Ross Clear up Rumors

A pair of Hall of Famers cleared the air on recent word of their issues with other members of the WWE family.

Unfounded rumors pointed to Ross disliking Big Show. The story one often heard on the Internet was that J.R. tried to keep the giant down when he was in power with WWE.

Ross dismisses that completely. He wrote on his blog, “One question I’ve been asked many times regarding the Big Show apparently saying on a podcast that he was ‘never one of my guys’ while I was in charge of talent roster in WWE. That’s news to me.”

J.R. went on to explain how much he valued Big Show’s contributions and how close they were.

Austin made sure to debunk his own rumors this week as well. Word got around that he was angry about Piper having a podcast guest do impressions of Stone Cold. Austin was rumored to then use his sway to get Hot Rod kicked off Podcast One.

Austin explained on his podcast that this isn’t true in the least. He said, “I had nothing to do with Roddy Piper leaving Podcast One. End of story.”

These stories are a reminder that not everything that makes the rounds on the Internet is true even though we may want the juiciest stuff to be.

WWE Banning In-Ring Term?

Sheamus‘ Irish Curse Backbreaker may need to get a new name. Vince McMahon may reportedly be looking to take another word from the WWE dictionary.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline reports (h/t Wrestle Zone) that McMahon might have banned the term “backbreaker” from WWE broadcasts.

The fact that Michael Cole simply called Sheamus‘ move a “knee to the spine” on Monday’s Raw has only served to have this rumor catch fire quickly.

This isn’t something one should take as fact just yet, though. There is no reported reason for making the switch. The term has been a part of the WWE lexicon for years.

McMahon can be impulsive at times, but this would be an odd move. Until we see more wrestlers hit the move and the announcers shy away from calling it what it is, take this bit of info with the proverbial grain of salt.

The PGA of America is moving its Grand Slam of Golf from Donald Trump’s golf course in Los Angeles, the first significant fallout for golf from the Republican presidential candidate’s comments on illegal Mexican immigrants. Both groups said they mutually agreed not to hold the Grand Slam of Golf at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles on Oct. 19-21. ”I have great respect for the PGA of America and everything they stand for,” Trump said in a statement.
