The world is a cold, cruel place. We look for order, for purpose, but life can be random and unforgiving. In dire times, we look to someone to make sense of it all, to be a beacon of hope in the grim sea of despair. That man is Ja Rule. Today (May 7), the man himself appeared on Fox News to discuss the topic with which he’s most closely associated: credit cards for millennials. “It’s a very unique situation,” Ja said. “Whenever you can marry the affluent with the less fortunate, you get the birthchild, which is called hip-hop.” When pressed about how and why this was relevant, the one-time Murder, Inc. star explained that the convergence of those two worlds was his inspiration for the project. “[Hip-hop] is the voices of the have-nots.” The card, called Magnises, creates a network of users and merchants that can be accessed for a $250 annual fee.
Thankfully, Fox kept Ja around to guide us through some of the turmoil gripping the nation. Of the ongoing protests in Baltimore, he characterized it as a “sad situation” and added the qualifier that tension between people of color and law enforcement can’t be confined to Maryland. On the topic of the 2016 Presidential election, the “Put It On Me” rapper seemed less than enthused about Hillary Clinton. “I like Hillary,” he started, “but, you know, it’s crazy–because I also think Jeb is a good candidate as well.” Stay tuned to XXL for more Ja-related news as it breaks.
Not too long ago iLoveMakonnen’s Twitter went nuts. In a handful of tweets, Makonnen’s account sent shots at Rihanna, Drake, and Fetty Wap. Nothing about the tweets seem real. The hacked tweets attacked OVO and Drake. Then the focused shifted to Rih, calling her a slut for not making music with him. The tweets were quickly deleted and there is no word on who was behind the hack. The hacked tweets however were captured. See a picture of the tweets below.
Makonnen went on Twitter to confirm that his Twitter was hacked.
Some crazy shit just happened here. Got hacked. But all is good now

We know, you’re still stuck on Avengers 2, us too. Less than a week after the theatrical release of the Marvel Studios blockbuster cast details on the third installment in the Captain America franchise, “Civil War”, has surfaced — and it’s pretty exciting.
Chris Evans of course will reprise the role of “Captain America/Steve Rogers”, with fellow Avengers veterans Robery Downey Jr. as “Iron Man/Tony Starks”, Scarlett Johansson as “Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff”, Paul Bettany as “The Vision” and Jeremy Renner as ”Clint Barton/Hawkeye”. Don Cheadle will return from the Iron Man franchiseas “Jim Rhodes/War Machine”, Elizabeth Olsen from Avengers 2 as “Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch”, as well as Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie returning to the Captain America series as ”Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier” and “Sam Wilson/Falcon” respectively.
So Civil War will pretty much will look like a Marvel Cinematic Universe family reunion, with the addition of some new faces. The film will introduce Chadwick Boseman as “T’Challa/Black Panter” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe before his own feature film premieres on July 6, 2018. Additionally, Daniel Brühl will join the cast as supervillain “Baron Helmut Zemo”. Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) will make his MCU debut for a yet-to-be-announced role. It was also reported that the “new” Peter Parker/Spider-Man would debut in the film, though he was omitted from the cast list (likely because they haven’t announced who would play the role yet).
Captain America: Civil War will draw from the Marvel Comics series of the same name, and where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off. An international incident which involves Cap’s new team of Avengers causes collateral damage, which inevitably forces government sanctions on superheroes to enforce a system of accountability, as well as a leg of the government ordered to decide when assistance from the superheroes will be needed. This inevitably splits the Avengers team down the middle, with some members siding with the government and others against the new policies, all the while a new, powerful villain intends to end the world (of course). Suffice it to say we’re looking at yet another Spring blockbuster when Captain America: Civil War drops May 6, 2016.
PNY Burgers has recently opened a new location in Paris, accounting for their third overall. Nestled in the heart of Le Marais, the design scheme was spearheaded by Cut Architectures and features a somewhat Miami-esque vibe. Showcasing a light and bright feel, the restaurant notes heavy doses of teal and pink shading, further adhering to the tropical aesthetic. The other PNY locations feature a differing black and white approach, so this new location brings a breath of fresh air to the franchise.
The menu for this particular venue has been slightly altered as well, but PNY’s signature cocktails and delicious milkshakes are thankfully still available. The new PNY Marais Burger Restaurant, located at 1 Rue Perrée, opened in April, so the next time you find yourself in the area, you should definitely check it out.

With his turntables and Serato in tow, ?uestlove traveled down to Cuba in April as an ambassador for hip-hop. Not wanting to miss out on the moment, Okayplayer TV sent a camera crew down with the talented musician to capture the experience. Along with playing club nights, ?uest took in the culture, mixed it up with the people, went crate digging and dropped by Cuba’s famous EGREM studios. This was ?uest’s first trip back to Cuba since 2002 when The Roots played a packed out show for the locals. During the 13-minute flick, ?uest has a chance encounter with Cuban hip-hop artist Brebaje Man, who opened for The Roots during that show over a decade ago. Check out the full documentary above.
in light of the highly-publicized cases of police brutality and deaths at the hands of police officers, ?uest has publicly called on artists to write protest songs to ignite change. “Anthems critical of the times are largely absent, even as demonstrators condemn the system that failed to prosecute the officers involved,” the Philly native told Billboard. “I think a lot of it is just due to fear of being blackballed and not making a living.” He also took to Instagram to call and challenge musicians and artists to be the voice of the people during these hard times:
I am torn between two bags at Brooks Brothers right now. This dark blue leather satchel looks sophisticated and sleek, and I feel like the Saffiano leather would wear better. But: maybe this bright cobalt one is more me (and it’s on sale for $150-$199, depending on the day). Hmmmn. The pictured bag is $498. Brooks Brothers Leather Satchel
Berlin-based artist Katharina Grosse presents her latest exhibition in Germany’s König Galerie, being showcased from May 2 to June 21. The work of art currently fills the new gallery that is located in the St. Agnes Church, as reconstructed by Arno Brandlhuber. Grosse’s The Smoking Kid exhibition highlights a rectangular format of panel painting via a two-dimensional technique. Bright colors and sharp edges pop from the canvas backdrop, as Katharina uses various entities such as plants, clothing, furniture and architecture to come together throughout the vivid imagery, which rivals that of her accustomed work.
